Adding and Removing Components
Path:
File | New

Located on the Standard toolbar and Product Structure Tools toolbar, respectively.
Use this to ...
- Create a new assembly document.
- Add existing components to an assembly.
- Remove components from an assembly.
Process: Creating a New Assembly Document
- Select File | New. The New dialog displays.
2. In the List of Types list, select Product. The file type appears in the Selection box.
3. Click OK.
Process: Adding Existing Components to an Assembly
1. Select Insert | Existing Component. CATIA prompts you to select the component to which you want to add the existing component.
2. In the Specification Tree, pick the component to which you want to add the new component. The File Selection dialog displays.
3. Navigate to the required part, select it, and click Open. The part is added to the Specification Tree and displays in the Graphics window.
Process: Removing Components from an Assembly
1. In the Specification Tree, pick the component you want to remove.
2. Select Edit | Delete. The Delete dialog displays if you remove a component that affects other constraints or parts.
3. Activate Delete exclusive parents, if required.
4. Activate Delete all children, if required.
5. Click OK.
Options
Delete Dialog
Displays when you delete a component that affects other components or constraints in the assembly.
Delete Exclusive Parents
Removes anything used to create the originally selected component.
Delete All Children
Deletes all child components and constraints associated with the component.
Advanced Children Management
Click More to display additional options for handling dependencies. These options let you edit parent/child relationships before you actually perform the deletion.
Tips
If you accidentally delete a component, select Edit | Undo to restore it.
